If you are planning to use public transit this weekend, be aware of significant service interruptions affecting both the TTC Line 1 and the Lakeshore West GO Line.
TTC Line 1 Weekend Suspension Details
This Saturday and Sunday, subway service on the TTC’s Line 1 will be unavailable between St. Clair West and St. Andrew stations. Shuttle buses will be in operation between St. Clair West and St. George stations to assist riders.
The TTC mentioned that most subway maintenance happens overnight; however, weekend closures are necessary for essential repairs and improvements. Several stations, including Dupont, Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick, and Osgoode, will be closed to passengers. However, other stations will remain open for fare purchases.
Normal subway service is expected to resume on Monday at 6 a.m.
Lakeshore West GO Line Weekend Suspension Details
The Lakeshore West GO Line will also see suspended service this weekend. GO trains will not run between Aldershot and Union stations on both Saturday and Sunday. This disruption is due to planned construction as part of the GO Expansion project.
Work is continuing at Long Branch GO and on the Burloak Drive underpass, aimed at enhancing service efficiency. Additionally, maintenance will be carried out on the line, including necessary repairs at the Etobicoke Creek bridge and Bronte Creek.
Alternative Transportation Options
Although there won’t be train service at multiple stations, GO buses will be operational. They will connect West Harbour and Aldershot GO to the Union Station Bus Terminal. Intermediate stops include:
- Burlington
- Oakville
- Clarkson
Stations without GO Transit service include Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico, and Exhibition GO. However, trains will continue to operate between Aldershot and Niagara Falls stations. Note that trains typically beginning and ending at Confederation and West Harbour stations will not run this weekend.
