Spotify Launches ‘Exclusive Mode’ Audiophile Feature for Windows PCs

Spotify has introduced a new feature called “Exclusive Mode” for its Windows app. This feature aims to enhance audio quality for users by allowing the app to take full control of audio processing.
What is Exclusive Mode?
Exclusive Mode is designed to ensure that the audio playback is not altered before reaching your Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). According to Spotify, various operating system processes can interfere with audio quality by resampling, mixing system sounds, or adjusting volume levels. By using Exclusive Mode, Spotify users can experience what is described as “Bit Perfect playback.”
Availability
- Exclusive Mode is exclusively available to Spotify Premium users.
- Currently, it is only accessible on the Windows application.
- A future update will bring this feature to the Mac app.
How to Enable Exclusive Mode
To activate Exclusive Mode, follow these simple steps:
- Open the Spotify app on your Windows device.
- Navigate to the settings by clicking on “Playback.”
- Select your audio device from the “Output” options.
- Toggle on the “Exclusive Mode” option.
Important Notes
When Exclusive Mode is enabled, audio from other applications will be disabled. Additionally, features like Spotify’s automix and crossfade will not function during this mode.
With the launch of Exclusive Mode, Spotify continues to enhance the listening experience for audiophiles. This update highlights Spotify’s commitment to audio quality and provides Premium users with more control over their music experience.
