Tim Hortons Recalls Hazardous Mugs Prone to Causing Burns

Tim Hortons has issued a recall on its Pink and White Colour Changing Donut Mug due to safety concerns related to burn hazards. This recall affects mugs sold between January and February 2026, both in restaurants and online. The 16-ounce white ceramic mug features a distinct doughnut design on both sides, with a pink interior and handle. Notably, the chocolate chip doughnut decal changes color when warm liquids are poured in.

Details of the Recall

The recall was announced by Health Canada, which highlighted that the mugs could crack or break when used with hot liquids. This malfunction poses a significant burn risk to consumers.

Incident Reports

  • As of March 10, 2026, Tim Hortons has received 28 incident reports in Canada.
  • One report included a burn injury linked to the use of the mug.

Consumer Advisory

Consumers who purchased this mug are urged to cease its use immediately. It can be returned to any Tim Hortons location for a full refund up until April 22, 2026. After this date, returns may still be accepted but may be subject to different terms.

Sales and Manufacturing Information

In total, approximately 25,040 units of the affected mugs were sold in Canada during the specified timeframe. These mugs were manufactured in China by Anbo Home Goods (Shenzen) Co. Ltd.

Safety Precautions

Health Canada has advised anyone who has encountered any health-related incidents involving this mug to complete a Consumer Product Incident Report Form. According to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, it is illegal to sell, redistribute, or give away any recalled items in Canada.

Tim Hortons had previously alerted customers on February 2026 to stop using the mug after receiving reports of cracks forming. The decision to remove the mugs from sale was made out of an abundance of caution.
