Ex-NBA Star’s Son Tajh Ariza Chooses Oregon

Top-25 basketball prospect Tajh Ariza has officially committed to the University of Oregon. This decision, announced on Friday, marks a significant step in his basketball career as he is the son of former NBA player Trevor Ariza.
Tajh Ariza Chooses Oregon Over USC
In a competitive recruitment process, Ariza narrowed his choices to Oregon and USC. He recently canceled a visit to Kansas and removed Kentucky from his options. His choice reflects a desire to develop under the guidance of Oregon’s coaching staff.
“They are going to prepare me for the next level,” said Ariza about Oregon. He expressed confidence in Coach Dana Altman, who assured him of playing time as a freshman, contingent upon earning it. “We must see your work,” coach Altman told him, emphasizing the importance of effort.
Recruitment Highlights
Ariza visited each finalist earlier this fall, with a notable experience during his time at Oregon. He felt a strong connection with Coach Altman and appreciated the coach’s personal approach.
“I was shooting in the gym with the Oregon uniform on,” Ariza recalled. “Coach Altman corrected my shot, and I made almost 30 three-pointers in a row. I got chills making all those shots.” This experience solidified his choice to join the Ducks.
Player Profile
Standing 6-foot-9, Tajh Ariza is regarded as one of the best small forwards in the 2026 class, currently ranked No. 24 in the SC Next 100. He plays for St. John Bosco High School in California and showcased his talent with Team Why Not in the Nike EYBL circuit.

Oregon’s Recruiting Strategy
Tajh Ariza is the second commitment to Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class, following Kendre Harrison, a dual-sport athlete. Harrison, who excels in basketball and football, is ranked No. 61 in basketball and No. 12 in football.
Ariza’s commitment may also have implications for other recruits, notably the No. 1 overall prospect Tyran Stokes. Stokes is currently considering schools like Kentucky, Oregon, Kansas, and USC, with a potential announcement on the horizon.
