Recent Accidents on Autoroute 30
This incident marks the third fatal collision involving semi-trucks on Quebec’s highways in just over a month. On August 27, Tanya Lalonde, 34, and her five-year-old son, Eliot, tragically lost their lives in an accident on Autoroute 30 east near Boucherville. The semi-trailer involved failed to stop in time and collided with several stopped vehicles on the road.
In this earlier case, the driver, aged 25, was reportedly distracted and not looking at the road before braking only after the impact. Additionally, a day earlier, on August 26, an accident on Autoroute 20 in St-Hyacinthe involved a truck driver, Jatinder Singh, who fled after causing the death of a man, Jean-Claude Evens, and injuring three others. Following a three-day search, the SQ located the driver, who was later released under certain conditions.
