Prince Edward County Resident Faces Fresh Fraud Charges

A resident from Prince Edward County is in the spotlight once again due to fresh fraud charges. Jennifer Simao, a 47-year-old former employee of two businesses, has been arrested by Belleville police.

Latest Fraud Allegations Against Jennifer Simao

Simao faces new charges, including three counts of fraud over $5,000 and three counts of using a forged document. The investigation started in May 2025 when police received a report indicating that $18,000 was withdrawn from a victim’s Canada Life RRSP account without permission.

Details of the Investigation

  • Four withdrawals totaled $16,830 and went into the daughter’s account.

Further inquiries revealed that the daughter had previously obtained approximately $54,000 from the victim between 2019 and 2022. This amount was claimed to cover medical and legal expenses. However, the police later discovered that the receipts provided to the victim were fraudulent, featuring forged documents and falsified signatures.

Simao’s Legal Situation

On September 12, 2025, Jennifer Simao was arrested and charged. She has since been released on conditions, with a court appearance set for November 27, 2025, in Belleville. This comes just after she had pleaded guilty to earlier charges of fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the Belleville Police Service continues to emphasize its commitment to tackling fraud and protecting victims.
