Reniec Confirms Regular Office Hours Will Continue Nationwide

The Registro Nacional de Identificación y Estado Civil (Reniec) has confirmed that it will maintain regular office hours nationwide despite the temporary implementation of teleworking in the public sector. This decision is aligned with government directives aimed at ensuring continuous public service delivery.
Office Hours and Service Continuity
Reniec will continue to serve the public at all of its agencies across the country. The office hours will remain unchanged from March 9 to March 13, operating from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.

- Office Hours: 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The institution emphasizes that services related to citizen identification are essential. These services facilitate the exercise of rights and participation in electoral processes. Although telework is the preferred method for many public entities, Reniec understands the significance of providing in-person assistance for identification matters.
Government Directives
This decision to maintain office hours falls under regulations established by the National Civil Service Authority. The guidelines introduced by the Executive branch address the application of mandatory teleworking among public sector employees in Lima and Callao due to the gas supply emergency.
Teleworking Regulations
- Telework Duration: March 9 – March 14, 2026
- Entities Allowed to Operate In-Person:
- Electoral bodies
- Healthcare establishments

Reniec has urged citizens to use its digital platforms whenever possible. These online tools allow for remote processing of requests, such as the renewal or replacement of the Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI). Utilizing these services helps streamline operations while public health measures are in effect.
Overall, Reniec’s commitment to providing in-person support during this transitional period underscores the importance of accessible identification services for all citizens.
