Amanda Holden Responds to Phillip Schofield Mention After On-Air Remark

Amanda Holden, a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and a presenter on Heart Radio, recently responded humorously to a listener’s mention of Phillip Schofield. This playful exchange occurred during a celebrity name game on Heart Radio, where a contestant named Ollie made Amanda cringe by bringing up her former co-host. Laughing, she quipped, “Oh, Ollie, my favourite. Of all the names you could’ve come up with, Patrick Swayze, at least!”
Amanda Holden’s Remarks on Phillip Schofield
This incident comes shortly after Phillip was referenced during another segment on air. Amanda’s co-host, Jamie Theakston, had been discussing the Brit Awards with comedian Jack Whitehall when Amanda jokingly commented about his socks, which led to a reference to Phillip Schofield. Amanda remarked, “Oh god, please, let’s not mention that name on air, it’s a family show!” highlighting her discomfort with the topic.
Background of Their Relationship
The tension between Amanda and Phillip dates back to 2018. Reports suggested Phillip had supported Rochelle Humes as a replacement for Holly Willoughby, instead of Amanda, who had co-hosted This Morning with him. An ITV spokesperson clarified that presenter decisions are made by producers, and Phillip later labeled the rumors as “hurtful and wildly untrue.”
Amanda has openly expressed her feelings regarding Phillip in past interviews. During a 2019 segment on Heart Radio, she jokingly included Phillip in a list of items she didn’t want around her, stating, “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”
Efforts for Reconciliation
Despite the ongoing rift, Amanda revealed that she once attempted to meet Phillip for coffee to discuss their differences, but he did not respond to her invitation. When this was brought up on air, Jamie commented that an “olive branch” had been extended, to which Amanda agreed.
Current Endeavors
While a reconciliation with Phillip Schofield seems unlikely, Amanda Holden continues her role on Britain’s Got Talent, returning alongside her fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and KSI. The show airs tonight at 7 PM on ITV and ITVX.
