Raiders Trade Maxx Crosby to Ravens for Two First-Round Picks

The Las Vegas Raiders have finalized a significant trade, sending five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. In return, the Raiders will receive first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. This move signals a new direction for both teams as they navigate the upcoming NFL offseason.

Details of the Trade

According to sources, the Dallas Cowboys had also shown interest, offering a first-round and a second-round pick for Crosby. However, the Raiders opted for the Ravens, who are now under the leadership of new head coach Jesse Minter.

Maxx Crosby’s Performance

Crosby, aged 28, has been a key player for the Raiders, despite recent challenges. He recorded impressive statistics this past season, including:

  • 73 tackles (28 for a loss)
  • 10 sacks
  • Five Pro Bowl selections

His season was cut short due to a knee injury sustained on October 19 against the Kansas City Chiefs, leading to a placement on injured reserve with two games remaining. This decision reportedly frustrated Crosby, prompting questions about his future with the Raiders.

Raiders’ Strategic Changes

With new coach Klint Kubiak at the helm, the Raiders are entering a period of rebuilding. The team now holds two first-round draft picks in the upcoming draft: the first overall and the 14th pick. Alongside Crosby’s departure, the Raiders may also release quarterback Geno Smith unless a trade materializes before the new league year begins.

Ravens’ Offseason Moves

On the Ravens’ side, the offseason has been eventful. They recently parted ways with longtime coach John Harbaugh after a disappointing season where they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Minter, previously a defensive assistant, has taken over as head coach.

Historical Context

This trade marks a notable moment in the Ravens’ history. It is the first time in 31 years that they have utilized a first-round pick to acquire a player through a trade.
