Jota’s Art Offers Lasting Tribute at Molineux Stadium

On a poignant occasion at Molineux, the Wolverhampton Wanderers unveiled two significant paintings honoring Diogo Jota. This tribute coincides with a match against Liverpool, Jota’s former club. Tragically, Diogo and his brother, Andre Silva, passed away last summer, prompting a heartfelt reaction from the community.
Unveiling of Jota’s Art at Molineux Stadium
The artwork, created by Jody Craddock, a former Wolves player and talented artist, incorporates ink made from petals collected from floral tributes left by fans at the Billy Wright statue. Craddock spent months perfecting these pieces to ensure they captured the essence of the beloved player.

During the unveiling ceremony, Gough expressed the significance of this tribute, stating, “This is a memorial for everybody within the club and importantly involves our fans.” He emphasized that the artwork embodies the deep connection between Diogo and Wolf supporters.
Future Plans for the Artwork
The two paintings will be recreated on weatherproof material for outside installation at Molineux by season’s end. This allows supporters to pay their respects at any time.
Memorial Activities at Matches
On the day of the Liverpool match, six flags will be raised in the South Bank to honor Diogo Jota. Fans are encouraged to chant his name during specific minutes of the game, reflecting his numbers at Wolves and Liverpool.
Additional Tributes
The Wolverhampton community has shown steadfast support since Jota’s passing. A supporter-funded tifo honored him during the season’s opening match against Manchester City. Additionally, flowers were laid outside Anfield ahead of a match in December, showcasing the enduring impact of his legacy.
Craddock, proud of the work, highlighted the emotional weight of transforming tributes into art. He conveyed his satisfaction in creating pieces that capture not only Jota’s spirit but also the heartbreak felt in the community.
As Diogo Jota’s artworks take their place at Molineux, they represent a permanent reminder of his contributions to the club and the love shared between him and the supporters. This solemn tribute ensures that Diogo’s memory will always be cherished at Molineux Stadium.
