Senate Backs Trump’s War Powers as UK Repatriation Flight Stalls

An increasing number of British citizens are caught in the escalating conflict in the Middle East. An estimated 300,000 Britons are currently in affected areas. After recent US-Israeli airstrikes, flight operations faced significant disruptions. The UK government’s charter flight, set to evacuate citizens from Muscat, did not depart as scheduled.

UK Government Response and Flight Status

The chartered flight from Muscat, intended for evacuation, was supposed to leave at 11 PM local time (7 PM UK time). However, it has been postponed to a later date. One passenger criticized the situation, calling it a “total shambles.” Despite the delays, reports indicate that over 1,000 Britons have returned home on commercial flights.

Commercial Flights Resuming

Some airlines have resumed operations out of the Middle East. Key airlines operating flights include:

  • Emirates: Flights from Dubai to the UK.
  • Virgin Atlantic: Flights from Dubai to the UK.
  • Etihad: Planned departures from Abu Dhabi.
  • British Airways: Operated a flight from Muscat in the early hours of Thursday.
  • Qatar Airways: Will begin limited relief flights from Muscat and Riyadh to Europe.

Cruise Passengers Stranded

Thousands of cruise passengers are also stranded in major cities like Dubai and Doha. At least six cruise ships are unable to depart, instructed to stay in areas deemed safe until new shipping routes are established. Travel platform Hosteltur has reported on these developments.

Registration for Britons in the Region

The UK Foreign Office urges at least 168,000 Britons in the Middle East to register their presence. They are especially focusing on citizens in the following countries:

  • Bahrain
  • Israel
  • Kuwait
  • Palestine
  • Qatar
  • United Arab Emirates

Britons can register their location via the official government website. The situation remains dynamic, and further updates are expected as the conflict evolves.
