Three Doctor Who Stars Nominated for Scottish BAFTA Award

The BAFTA Scotland Awards nominations were unveiled on October 1, 2025. Among the nominees are three renowned actors from the celebrated series Doctor Who. David Tennant, Ncuti Gatwa, and Peter Capaldi are all vying for the Actor Film/Television award.

  • Ncuti Gatwa: Nominated for his performance in Doctor Who.
  • Peter Capaldi: Nominated for his role in Black Mirror episode titled Plaything.

This recognition highlights the exceptional talent required to embody the iconic character of the Doctor. Tennant, Capaldi, and Gatwa have all portrayed different iterations of the Doctor: the Tenth and Fourteenth for Tennant, the Twelfth for Capaldi, and the Fifteenth for Gatwa.

Ncuti Gatwa and Peter Capaldi first met during the BAFTA Scotland Awards in 2022. At that event, Capaldi received the Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television award. Gatwa, on the verge of stepping into the Doctor’s shoes, was nominated for two awards for his performance as Eric Effiong in Sex Education.

Additionally, Ncuti Gatwa stands out as one of six nominees for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award, thanks to his portrayal of the Fifteenth Doctor in Doctor Who’s second series.

Awards Ceremony Details

The 2025 BAFTA Scotland Awards are scheduled for Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central. The ceremony will kick off at 5:30 PM BT.

The event will be broadcast on BBC Scotland and available on BBC iPlayer. An edited highlights program will also air on Wednesday, November 19. Additionally, the ceremony will be streamed live on the official BAFTA YouTube channel.
