The highly anticipated David Lloyd health club in Kent is nearing its completion, with the official opening date set for December 2. Located at Altira Business Park in Herne Bay, near Sainsbury’s, this new facility marks an exciting addition to the local community.

The club, which has a membership fee of £154 per month, boasts impressive amenities. Members can look forward to:
- Over 100 gym stations
- Heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools
- Tennis and padel courts
- Signature group exercise classes, including Blaze, Spirit, Ignite, Cyclone, and Rebels
- A spa retreat with various wellness facilities
These wellness facilities include a Himalayan salt sauna, a rainforest experience shower, and hydrotherapy pools. Additionally, families can utilize the indoor soft play area and participate in junior coaching programs through Swim Stars and Tennis Stars.
Community and Job Creation
General Manager Mike van Heerden expressed enthusiasm about the club’s opening, emphasizing the goal of fostering a vibrant community focused on health and wellness. Excitingly, 75 new jobs have been created for local residents as part of the recruitment drive for the club.
“We are overwhelmed by the interest in the new Herne Bay Club. Memberships have been rapidly secured,” Van Heerden stated, encouraging prospective members to book tours or secure their spots before the grand opening.

Environmental Commitment
In alignment with sustainability goals, David Lloyd has pledged to install solar panels at the Herne Bay site by the end of 2025. This initiative supports the company’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
Currently, this will be the only David Lloyd health club in east Kent. The nearest facilities are situated in Maidstone and Kings Hill, making this a significant development for the local area.
