San Bartolomé de Tirajana Initiates PEMU Amid Storm-Induced Wind and Coastal Alert

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has activated its Municipal Emergency Plan (PEMU) due to warnings from the Canary Islands Government. The Directorate General of Emergencies has declared an alert for winds and coastal phenomena as a storm system approaches, threatening the archipelago with severe weather.

The storm is expected to bring:
- Thunderstorms
- Locally heavy rainfall
- Strong gusts of wind
- Rough seas
Activation of the Municipal Emergency Plan (PEMU)
The activation of PEMU means that municipal emergency coordination and response mechanisms are now in place. The Local Police Crisis Room will serve as the Municipal Coordination Center, directed by the Chief Commissioner of the Local Police. This operation will work closely with Civil Protection and the 1-1-2 Emergency Coordination Center (CECOES).
Preventative Measures Taken
To ensure public safety, several preventative actions have been implemented:
- All organized outdoor activities have been suspended.
- Recreational areas in the upper municipality, like Tunte, are closed.
- Sunbeds, umbrellas, and seasonal items have been removed from the beaches.
