New M&S Store Planned Near M65 Services in Lancashire

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is set to establish a new store near the M65 services in Lancashire. The store will feature various modern and sustainable amenities for customers.
Store Features and Sustainability Initiatives
The new M&S location will include:
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging points
- Accessible parking bays
- Secure cycle parking facilities
Additionally, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems will be installed. The building will also utilize solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and include enhancements for biodiversity.
Support for Local Agriculture
M&S is committed to supporting British farming. The store plans to partner with local suppliers from Lancashire, including:
- Bright Blue Foods in Shadsworth
- Winterbotham Darby in Clitheroe
The food hall is anticipated to strengthen these local partnerships, contributing positively to the economic resilience of Lancashire.
Related Developments and Challenges
This proposal is independent of the ongoing plans related to a £10 million food hall on Frontier Park in Blackburn. That project, which received planning permission from Hyndburn Council in April, is currently awaiting deliberation in a High Court following a legal challenge initiated by Tesco, supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
