NexWafe and Talon PV Sign 7GW Wafer Supply Deal in US
NexWafe has recently entered into a significant supply agreement with Talon PV to provide advanced solar wafer materials. This collaboration aims to strengthen the solar manufacturing landscape in the United States and beyond.
NexWafe and Talon PV’s Supply Agreement
The agreement marks an important milestone in NexWafe’s mission to deliver high-efficiency solar manufacturing solutions. The company will supply its proprietary wafers from its pilot-scale facility located in Bitterfeld, Germany.
This partnership is not just limited to wafer supply. Both companies are committed to working together on technical development. Their joint efforts will focus on optimizing TOPCon cell performance through NexWafe’s innovative direct gas-to-wafer manufacturing process, EpiNex.
Collaboration Goals
- Enhancing wafer material quality
- Reducing oxygen content for improved efficiency
- Innovating junction engineering techniques
These goals are essential for achieving higher efficiency and long-term reliability in N-type solar cells. Davor Sutija, CEO of NexWafe, emphasized the significance of this agreement, stating that it sets the foundation for a next-generation wafer-to-cell ecosystem that links Germany and the US.
Technical Development and Future Expansion
Part of this collaboration includes upcoming technical qualification efforts at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg, Germany. This facility will also serve as a location for initial EpiNex wafer qualification.
Talon PV is strategically positioned in the US, where it is constructing a solar cell manufacturing plant in Texas. The company has also partnered with Fraunhofer ISE for the establishment of a TOPCon pilot line in Freiburg.
Looking Ahead
The agreement is contingent upon completing definitive long-term supply documents and meeting customary technical qualification and investment criteria. This partnership signifies a forward-thinking approach to solar technology and production.
SolarPLUS USA Conference
In related news, the annual Large Scale Solar USA event will transform into SolarPLUS USA in 2026. Scheduled for March 24-25 in Dallas, Texas, the event will discuss critical topics like managing hybrid assets and the integration of energy storage with solar PV systems.
Attendees will include developers, investors, and utility representatives, making it a key event for industry networking and knowledge sharing. For more information about the event, visit El-Balad’s website.
