Rory McIlroy Trails Jacob Bridgeman by Six at Genesis Invitational Round Three

After the third round of the Genesis Invitational, Rory McIlroy finds himself six shots behind the leader, Jacob Bridgeman. Bridgeman secured his position atop the leaderboard with an impressive seven-under-par 64 at the Riviera Country Club. McIlroy, from Northern Ireland, carded a two-under-par 69, placing him second at 13 under par in Los Angeles.
Bridgeman Takes Control
Bridgeman’s strong performance included seven birdies and an eagle at the 11th hole. He had previously shot a 64 in round two, showcasing his excellent form. The 26-year-old, currently ranked 52nd in the world, has made a strong start to the season with two top-10 finishes. Last week, he finished eighth at Pebble Beach.
McIlroy’s Strategy
McIlroy expressed his desire to close the gap to Bridgeman. “I hung in there,” he commented. “I wish I was a couple closer to the lead. It looks like I’ll be in the final group. I need to get off to a fast start and apply some pressure.” His performance keeps him in contention going into the final round.
