Facebook Co-founder Puts DC Home on the Market

Chris Hughes, co-founder of Facebook, is putting his Washington, D.C., home on the market. The house is listed for $8.75 million, five years after Hughes purchased it for just under $8 million.

Details on the Kalorama Home

Hughes and his husband, Sean Eldridge, have chosen real estate agents Marin Hagen and Sylvia Bergstrom from Coldwell Banker to handle the sale. The couple acquired this six-bedroom residence located on Phelps Place NW in 2021.

Features of the Property

  • Six bedrooms
  • Chef’s kitchen with high-end appliances
  • Owner’s suite featuring a fireplace
  • Large media room
  • Full-sized gym
  • Rear garden with a terrace, fire pit, grill, and fountain

The home has been renovated while preserving elements from its early 20th-century architecture.

Kalorama: A Celebrity Hotspot

Karlorama has gained a reputation as a preferred neighborhood for high-profile residents. Notably, former President Barack Obama lived in the area after renting and subsequently purchasing a home in 2017. Jeff Bezos also made headlines with his acquisition of a former museum in the same neighborhood, which he embarked on renovating that same year.

During their time in Washington, D.C., Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner also rented a residence in Kalorama.

Hughes and Eldridge’s decision to list their home reflects the dynamic real estate market in a neighborhood favored by influential figures.
