Ex-Footballer, Three Others Charged with Attempted Murder

A former footballer from Accrington Stanley has been arrested along with three others for attempted murder. This serious charge follows a shooting incident that took place on a driveway in Merseyside.

Details of the Incident

Patrick Lacey, aged 32, is among those charged after a man in his twenties was shot in Huyton. The man was severely injured and remains in critical condition after the shooting on Radway Road. This event occurred in November.

Additional Charges

Alongside Lacey, three individuals face the same charge:

  • John Jones, 35, of Stamfordham Drive, Allerton
  • John Hughes, 31, currently of no fixed address
  • Bernard Flynn, 61, of Knowsley Road, Bootle

Court Appearance

Merseyside Police confirmed that all four defendants are scheduled to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, and St Helens Adult Remand Court. The court proceedings will determine the next steps regarding the charges of attempted murder.
