The Season will highlight the historical and social connections between Poland and France while emphasizing the cultural dimensions of their strategic partnership. Polish Cultural Minister Marta Cienkowska stated that the event would support activities designed to showcase the richness of French culture in Poland and present contemporary Polish art in France.
- Objective: Enhance bilateral cultural cooperation.
- Focus on youth engagement and collaboration between artists.
- Explore vital European issues such as countering misinformation and protecting human rights.
Strategic Partnership and the Treaty of Nancy
This initiative is a practical manifestation of the Treaty of Nancy, established in 2025, which underscores cultural collaboration as a key area for deepening ties between Poland and France. Both countries have expressed their commitment to building a strong, sovereign Europe based on trust and shared responsibility.
Cultural Diplomacy in a New Era
Over twenty years after the “Nova Polska” Season in France, Poland and France are revisiting bilateral cooperation amid contemporary European challenges. The 2027 Season is envisioned as a platform for critical thinking and creative collaboration, aimed at fostering future-oriented partnerships.
Program Development and Collaborative Efforts
The events will be crafted in close cooperation with artistic and institutional actors from both nations. Olga Wysocka, director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, emphasized that the Season would not only be an artistic showcase but also a catalyst for sustainable collaboration, co-productions, and research initiatives.
Building a Lasting Legacy
The Poland-France Season aims to create enduring relationships beyond the event’s conclusion, emphasizing mobility for artists and cultural workers. The vision is to forge a lasting impact that extends well beyond 2027.
Małgorzata Grąbczewska, director of the Polish Institute in Paris, highlighted the Season as a unique opportunity to present contemporary Poland as vibrant and diverse. She believes it harnesses culture as a bridge between societies.
Organizational Framework
The program in France will be executed by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in collaboration with the Polish Institute in Paris. Conversely, the events in Poland will be organized by the French Institute in cooperation with the French Embassy in Poland. This initiative is supported by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the French Ministry of Culture and Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
The upcoming Poland-France Season in 2027 promises to be a significant cultural event, exemplifying the enduring friendship and shared artistic heritage of both nations.
