Elon Musk’s X to Initiate Crypto, Stock Trading in Weeks

The social media platform X, founded by Elon Musk, is preparing to launch direct trading of stocks and cryptocurrencies for its users. This initiative aims to enhance financial services on the platform, allowing users to execute trades directly from their timelines.

Innovative Features: Smart Cashtags

According to Nikita Bier, the head of product at X, the platform will introduce features called “Smart Cashtags.” This technology will enable users to interact with stock ticker symbols in posts. Users will be able to execute trades seamlessly through the app.

X Money: A New Payment System

The announcement coincides with the anticipated launch of X Money, an in-house payment system. This tool is currently undergoing internal testing and will soon be available for a limited number of users, likely within the next one to two months. Musk envisions X as an all-in-one platform, combining messaging, posting, financial transactions, and investments.

The Vision Behind X

Musk’s concept aligns with his idea of an “everything app,” where users can manage various aspects of their daily digital lives without leaving the platform. This integration of financial tools, such as X Money, will resemble banking services embedded within the app.

Elon Musk’s Crypto Endeavors

Throughout his career, Musk has demonstrated a keen interest in cryptocurrency. His company Tesla currently holds 11,509 bitcoins, down from an initial investment of 42,000 in early 2021. Additionally, SpaceX maintains a portfolio of approximately 8,285 bitcoins.

  • Musk has shown support for dogecoin, a meme-inspired cryptocurrency.
  • In 2022, Tesla began accepting DOGE for select merchandise.
  • SpaceX announced it would accept DOGE for some products as well.

Earlier this month, Musk hinted at further possibilities for dogecoin, stating he might put it “on the moon.” As X integrates more financial services, users can expect a groundbreaking shift in how they interact with digital currencies and stock trading directly from their social media feeds.
