The escape occurred on Thursday at approximately 5:20 p.m. Todd John Lewis, a 35-year-old inmate, jumped the fence of the facility located in Shediac, New Brunswick. Following his escape, he fled on foot toward Route 15.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were notified of the incident early Friday morning at 12:28 a.m. Patrols were dispatched to search for Lewis; however, he remains at large.
