Lower Turnout Anticipated for Port Dover’s Friday the 13th Biker Rally

The first Friday the 13th of the year is upon us, bringing with it the highly anticipated biker rally in Port Dover, Ontario. This event is a well-known tradition that occurs every time the 13th falls on a Friday. In 2023, that means there will be rallies in both March and November as well.

However, this week’s rally is expected to see a lower turnout compared to previous summer events. Constable Andrew Gamble from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment indicated that the number of attendees may be reduced this time around.
Traffic and Safety Measures
Despite the anticipated lower numbers, an increase in both vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected, especially in downtown Port Dover. To ensure safety, a noticeable police presence will be evident throughout the event. Authorities will work together to support public safety measures for both residents and visitors.
- Events will proceed without road closures.
- Drivers and riders are urged to check weather conditions before traveling.
- First responders will be on standby for any crowd-related issues.
Vendor Information
This rally will feature limited vendor activity. Unlike previous occasions, no vendors will occupy county property except for the Port Dover Kinsmen. They will be selling T-shirts at the Elmer Lewis parking lot.
In June, Port Dover had enforced restrictions limiting certain streets to motorcycle traffic to better accommodate rally participants. However, this will not be the case for this Friday’s event, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Norfolk County.
Overall, while the turnout may be lower than in the summer months, the community spirit and safety measures will still play a significant role in the biker rally experience.
