Among the various shopping options, Walmart stands out as the top destination for Valentine’s Day purchases. A substantial 50% of shoppers intend to buy their gifts at Walmart. The survey findings highlight the increasing popularity of this retail giant during the holiday season.

The same survey found that nearly half, or 49%, of those who celebrate will start planning their Valentine’s Day activities one to two weeks in advance. Interestingly, Gen Z celebrated are twice as likely to plan six months ahead compared to all other age groups, with 12% of them doing so versus just 6% of the total celebrators.

Galentine’s Day is also gaining traction, with more than a quarter of consumers planning to celebrate this day dedicated to friendship. The enthusiasm is particularly high among Gen Z and millennials, with 28% in both groups expressing their intent to celebrate. Gen X follows closely with 23% planning similar festivities.

As consumers finalize their shopping lists, certain gift categories emerge as favorites. The top purchases anticipated for Valentine’s Day include:

  • Food: 53%
  • Gifts: 28%
