Mateta Injury Less Severe Than Expected

Jean-Philippe Mateta’s injury situation has taken a turn for the better. According to Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, the knee issue that blocked Mateta’s transfer to AC Milan is “not as bad as feared.” The manager confirmed that the 29-year-old forward will not need surgery.

Transfer Blocked by Injury

Mateta, a native of the Paris area, was on the brink of a £30 million move to the Rossoneri. However, he failed two medical examinations, which resulted in him returning to Crystal Palace. Since January 25, when the team lost to Chelsea 3-1, Mateta has not participated in any matches.

Looking Ahead

Glasner expressed optimism about Mateta’s return to form. “I’m 100 percent convinced that JP will give his best when he wears the Eagles shirt again,” he stated. He anticipates that the fans will support Mateta, acknowledging his contributions to the team.

  • Mateta is in his sixth season with Crystal Palace.
  • This season, he has scored eight goals in 23 league appearances.
  • He has been capped three times by the French national team, Les Bleus.

World Cup Aspirations

Mateta is eager to earn a spot on Didier Deschamps’ roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup this summer. The forward’s focus remains on recovering fully and returning stronger.

As Crystal Palace prepares to face Burnley at Selhurst Park, Glasner is keen to reintegrate Mateta into the squad. With continued support from staff and fans, hopes are high for Mateta’s successful comeback.
