Buckingham Pancake Race Set to Return in 2026

El-Balad is excited to announce the return of the beloved Buckingham Pancake Race scheduled for Thursday, 19 February 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The event will take place on the green space near St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church, offering a fun-filled day for participants and spectators alike.
Event Details
The pancake race will kick off with an official opening ceremony led by the local mayor. Following the opening, participants can warm up with a session conducted by Urban Om Yoga to prepare for the races.
Race Categories
This year’s event includes exciting races suitable for all ages and abilities. Categories include:
- 5 and under
- 6–11 years
- 12–17 years
- Adult Relay
- Walking race
In addition to the races, there will be a children’s craft tent offering interactive activities for younger attendees.
Participation and Prizes
Entry to the Buckingham Pancake Race is completely free. Participants are encouraged to bring their own frying pan, headscarf, and apron. Winners will receive prizes, including trophies, to celebrate their achievements.

According to Cllr Robin Stuchbury, chair of the town centre and events committee, “The friendly competition is a wonderful opportunity for friends to see who can manage to reach the other end without dropping their pancake.” He emphasized that the event fosters community spirit and enjoyment among participants, especially the youth.
