Denis Alibec Discusses Romania National Team Return After FCSB Exit

Denis Alibec, the Romanian striker, has recently returned to FCV Farul Constanța after his exit from FCSB. He has already played two matches for Farul, scoring one goal. Previously, he had not been called up to the national team since June 2025, under coach Mircea Lucescu.

Potential Return to Romania National Team

With the Romanian national team’s ongoing challenges at the striker position, Alibec was asked about his thoughts on a return to the national squad. He holds 45 caps and has netted six goals for his country, with his last appearance occurring in June 2025 during a match against Cyprus.

During a press conference prior to the match against Unirea Slobozia, Alibec expressed caution regarding his national team prospects. He stated, “It’s too early to talk about that. First, I need to play and achieve success, and then we will see what happens.”

Current Striker Situation for Romania

Alibec’s potential return is significant as Mircea Lucescu faces limited options for the central striker position. Denis Drăguș is currently suspended for the upcoming match against Turkey. Other options, such as Louis Munteanu, are not available as he is set to start his season in the United States later in February. Daniel Bîrligea remains the only immediate solution.

  • Denis Alibec: 45 caps, 6 goals
  • Last national team match: June 2025
  • Suspended player: Denis Drăguș
  • Available options: Daniel Bîrligea, Daniel Paraschiv (recently transferred to Rapid)

Alibec’s Recent Performance

Alibec’s move back to Farul has been positively received, with the striker aiming to regain form and potentially re-enter the national team discussions. His focus remains on contributing to his club and proving his worth on the pitch.

In the context of transfer rumors, Farul has also been mentioned in connection to other players. However, club officials have clarified that they are currently not interested in any additional signings, including Octavian Popescu. Zoltan Iașko, the club’s representative, emphasized that they have a balanced squad and are integrating new talent from their academy.

As Alibec seeks to shine again with his club, fans and analysts alike will watch closely for his performances that may lead him back to the Romanian national team.
