Bharat Taxi Introduces Government-Backed Rival to Ola and Uber in India

Bharat Taxi has recently launched in India, offering a government-supported alternative to popular ride-hailing services like Ola and Uber. This new platform prioritizes driver ownership and aims for fair compensation for its drivers.
Bharat Taxi Overview
The Bharat Taxi app is operated by Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited, with backing from the Ministry of Cooperation. It is available for download on both Android and iOS devices.
Key Features of Bharat Taxi
- Zero-Commission Structure: Initially, Bharat Taxi will not charge commission, allowing drivers, called Sarathis, to retain 100% of the ride payments.
- No Surge Pricing: The app plans to avoid surge pricing, making rides more affordable for users.
- Future Fees: A nominal fee may be introduced later, but it will not work as a traditional commission. Instead, any fees collected will be reinvested to provide incentives and welfare for drivers.
- Public Transport Integration: The platform integrates with public transportation, like the Metro, allowing users to plan efficient multi-modal journeys.
- Safety Features: Users have access to emergency contact alerts, an in-app safety team, and a siren feature.
Support and Accessibility
Support centers operate in seven strategic locations across Delhi, offering immediate assistance and verified ride data. Bharat Taxi is taking significant steps to empower women, with initiatives such as “Bike Didi,” which has already welcomed over 150 women drivers.
Growth and Adoption
- Current Registered Drivers: Over 300,000
- Current Registered Users: More than 100,000
- Daily Completed Rides: Over 10,000 across Delhi-NCR and Gujarat
Bharat Taxi is poised to create a positive impact in the ride-hailing industry in India, offering a competitive alternative that focuses on driver and user satisfaction while ensuring fair earnings for its drivers.
