Hawks Complete Jock Landale Trade, Release Duop Reath

The Atlanta Hawks have completed a trade with the Utah Jazz, acquiring Jock Landale. This move involves cash considerations as confirmed in an official announcement from the team. Notably, this trade occurs independently of a separate transaction involving the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Transaction Details
Jock Landale, a 30-year-old center, was having a standout season before this trade. He averaged 11.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while playing 23.6 minutes across 45 games for the Memphis Grizzlies. His shooting from three-point range reached a career-high of 38.0% on 2.9 attempts per game.
Significance of the Trade
This acquisition aims to bolster the Hawks’ frontcourt, which has faced challenges due to injuries. The team is currently adjusting its roster following the departure of Kristaps Porzingis to the Golden State Warriors.
Roster Adjustments
Landale’s one-year contract, which is at the minimum salary, allows the Hawks to bring him on board without needing to match salaries. However, the team had to create space on its 15-man roster. This was achieved by placing Duop Reath on waivers.
Duop Reath’s Status
- Duop Reath was recently acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of a trade involving Vit Krejci.
- He underwent season-ending foot surgery and is not expected to remain with the Hawks.
- Reath’s cap hit for this season is $2,221,677, but he is not owed any salary beyond the 2025/26 season.
This trade marks a strategic move for the Hawks as they work to improve their chances in the competitive league landscape, positioning themselves for better performance in the forthcoming games.
