Teachers’ Week: Inspiring Educators Ignite Passion

From February 1 to 7, 2026, Quebec celebrates Teachers’ Week, honoring the vital role educators play in the lives of students. The Federation of Educational Unions (FSE-CSQ) expresses gratitude to all teachers across the province, recognizing their remarkable dedication despite ongoing challenges. These challenges include budget cuts, staffing shortages, and restrictive government legislation.
The Role of Educators in Shaping Futures
Richard Bergevin, president of FSE-CSQ, emphasizes the hard work of teachers daily. “Our educators tirelessly inspire students, guiding them toward success and igniting their passions,” he stated. The federation believes that respecting teachers’ professional autonomy is essential. This acknowledgment goes beyond a mere week of recognition.
Valuing Teacher Expertise
FSE-CSQ insists that trusting and valuing teachers’ pedagogical expertise is crucial. The federation encourages listening to educators’ proposed solutions to address on-the-ground challenges, such as:
- Tackling staffing shortages
- Promoting students who may lack foundational skills
- Addressing issues of violence against teachers
Bergevin pointed out that recognizing these solutions enhances the profession’s status and ensures a more positive environment for educators and students alike.
Community Involvement
The FSE-CSQ invites parents and the wider community to acknowledge the indispensable contributions of teachers to student development. They encourage further engagement through the “Prof, ma fierté!” podcast series, available on their YouTube channel and major podcast platforms.
About the FSE-CSQ
