New Partnership Offers 70% Rail Fare Discount in Southern England

Students studying in Southern England can now benefit from significant discounts on their train fares thanks to a new partnership with Southern trains. This initiative introduces two new Unizones designed specifically for college students, providing them a chance to save up to 70% on rail fares.
Enhanced Discounts for Students
Students currently utilizing the 16-17 Saver Railcard or 16-25 Railcard can access these discount offers. With a valid college ID, NUS Extra card, or TOTUM card, students attending Brighton Metropolitan, Worthing, Northbrook, and Chichester colleges will experience even more savings. This collaboration allows them to travel between home and college affordably.
Details of the Unizones
The newly established Unizones are specifically situated along important sections of the Southern network’s South Coast line. These zones aim to ease the burden of travel costs for students, allowing them to navigate their communities, meet friends, or participate in extracurricular activities without overspending.
- Discount of up to 70% on train fares.
- Available for students with valid college identification and railcards.
- Travel options include weekly, monthly, or termly tickets.
Supporting Education and Accessibility
Louis Rambaud, Chief Customer Officer at Southern, highlighted the advantages of these Unizone fares. He emphasized that they provide a great opportunity for young people to travel swiftly and sustainably along the south coast. Vicki Illingworth, Executive Principal at Chichester College Group, echoed this sentiment, considering the initiative a game-changer for students’ travel experience.
By eliminating travel barriers, this collaboration aims to support education and increase accessibility for learners. Such reliable, cost-effective transport options play a crucial role in facilitating education and expanding opportunities for students during and after their college years.
