Bam Margera Dismisses Interest in Rejoining ‘Jackass’ Franchise

Bam Margera has made it clear that he has no intention of returning to the ‘Jackass’ franchise. As discussion intensifies regarding the next installment, Margera emphasized that any presence he may have will solely rely on previously recorded footage.
Bam Margera’s Relationship with ‘Jackass’
In a recent interview with Deadline, Margera expressed his sentiments regarding his estrangement from ‘Jackass’ co-creators Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine. His removal from the 2022 film ‘Jackass Forever’ deeply affected him. Margera stated, “I’m just too hurt by it, and I already accepted the fact that I don’t want anything to do with it anymore.”
He revealed that the aftermath of being cut from the project left him feeling both humiliated and isolated. “I was very angry, and now I’m not angry, I’m just hurt,” he reflected, noting that he is currently not considering a reunion.
Use of Archival Footage in the New Film
Despite his distaste for the situation, Margera confirmed his presence in the upcoming ‘Jackass’ movie through archival footage. He disclosed that the production team plans to utilize unused material from ‘Jackass Forever’ to create new sequences. “They said, ‘We’re gonna sift through a lot of old footage to try to create something new,’” he explained.
- Margera has agreed to this approach, as much of the footage was too extreme or lengthy for the film’s final cut.
- “As far as I know, I don’t have to film anything new, and I don’t want to,” he added.
Impact of His Exit from ‘Jackass’
Margera also spoke about the financial and emotional struggles he faced after leaving the franchise. He reported spending considerable amounts on treatment and professional help during that time. The realization of his exclusion from the project was a challenging pill to swallow.
He noted the ongoing trauma from this experience, stating he now carries the label of “ex-Jackass star.” This resonates with many fans and industry observers, sparking conversations about the impacts of fame and personal choices in entertainment.
Upcoming ‘Jackass’ Project Timeline
Knoxville recently confirmed that a new installment, ‘Jackass 5’, is slated for release on June 26, 2026, with Paramount Pictures managing the distribution. The announcement was made via social media platforms, including Instagram, showcasing excitement for what lies ahead.
As anticipation builds for ‘Jackass 5’, Margera remains a complex figure within the franchise narrative. His absence, alongside the use of archival footage, highlights both the challenges of personal dynamics and the creative processes behind the scenes.
