Ontario Faces Blizzard and Snow Squall Warnings

Ontario is bracing itself for harsh winter weather, facing blizzard and snow squall warnings across several regions. The southern and central parts of the province are most affected by these warnings.

Blizzard Warnings in Effect

An orange-level blizzard warning has been issued for ten regions. Areas such as Bruce Peninsula, Goderich, Hanover, and Niagara Falls are included in the warning.
Wind gusts between 70 and 90 kilometers per hour are expected, contributing to blizzard conditions and near-zero visibility. Wind chills are predicted to range between -20 and -25 degrees Celsius.

Expected Snow Accumulation

  • General snowfall: 10 to 25 cm
  • Bruce Peninsula and Owen Sound: 20 to 40 cm

Snowfall is anticipated to begin on Monday morning, leading to blizzard conditions by the afternoon and continuing through the evening. Snow squalls are expected to persist in many areas until Tuesday morning.

Snow Squall Warnings for Additional Regions

Several regions in southern and eastern Ontario are also affected by yellow-level snow squall warnings. Areas including Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Norfolk County, Kitchener, and Kingston are under these advisories.

Specific Regional Warnings

  • Parry Sound and Orillia: Forecasted snowfall of 20 to 50 cm
  • Other regions: Anticipated accumulation of 10 to 20 cm

Residents are warned of significantly reduced visibility due to heavy snow and blowing snow. Snow is expected to continue throughout the afternoon in many southern communities.

Travel Advisory

Ontarians are advised to exercise caution while traveling. Roads and walkways may be extremely hazardous due to snow accumulation, making navigation difficult.
