Guide to Navigating Sundance Film Festival’s Last Year in Park City

The Sundance Film Festival returns to Park City, running from January 22 to February 1. This year marks a significant change as Main Street will be closed to vehicles. The closure extends from the top of Main to 7th Street, beginning at 11 a.m. on January 22 and lasting through January 26. This initiative follows a successful trial of street closures in previous years.

Road and Parking Restrictions

Several roads in Old Town will also experience closures. Access to Hillside Avenue and Park Avenue will be limited to residents only. Additionally, Park Avenue will become one-way, directing traffic downhill. Swede Alley will only be open for those with residential passes or ADA placards.

  • Main Street: Closed Jan. 22 – Jan. 26
  • Hillside Avenue: Residential access only
  • Park Avenue: One-way, downhill access
  • Swede Alley: Limited access for residents and ADA placard holders

Residents and visitors are urged to avoid cutting through residential areas to minimize traffic disruption. Enhanced security measures will be in place to discourage unauthorized access.

Parking Availability During Sundance

Parking closures are also implemented throughout the festival. The following areas will be affected:

  • Bob Wells Plaza: Closed for the festival
  • North end of Brew Pub Lot: Closed for the festival
  • North Marsac Parking Lot: Partially closed Jan. 21 – Feb. 1
  • Park Avenue: Closed from Heber Avenue to 9th Street Jan. 22 – Feb. 1
  • Main Street, Heber Avenue, Swede Alley: Restricted parking Jan. 22 – Jan. 27

Parking permits are available for employees in designated lots, including Flagpole and North Marsac. Visitors can utilize the China Bridge garage with a parking pass priced at $550 or opt for daily event rates:

Date Flat Fee
Jan. 22 $40
Jan. 23 – Jan. 24 $50
Jan. 25 – Jan. 27 $30
Jan. 28 – Feb. 1 Standard rates

Due to limited parking options, Park City officials encourage the use of free public transit. The Richardson Flat Park-and-Ride near U.S. 40 provides complimentary parking. Shuttle buses run every 15 minutes from 6:40 a.m. to 2 a.m., connecting passengers to the Old Town Transit Center.

Additional options include parking at Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Village, which are available for festival-goers from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily. Park City Transit services connect these lots to Old Town, providing convenient access during the festival.
