Inside FOX’s Year-Round Creative Drive for IndyCar Coverage

FOX Sports has recently launched its promotional campaign for the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series, showcasing its creative drive through dynamic videos. The first video, titled “Perfect Neighbor,” debuted during the NFL Divisional Playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks on January 17.

IndyCar’s Prominent Features in FOX Sports Campaign

The inaugural promotional video features two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Josef Newgarden, who races for Team Penske. This marks the second consecutive year FOX has developed innovative promotional content to highlight IndyCar racing.

Last year’s campaign was well-received, featuring drivers such as Alex Palou from Chip Ganassi Racing and Pato O’Ward from Arrow McLaren. In 2026, returning stars will be joined by two-time IndyCar Series champion and 2018 Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power, currently with Andretti Global.

Performance and Viewership Growth

FOX Sports’ dedication to IndyCar has resulted in substantial viewership growth. In 2025, the NTT IndyCar Series experienced an impressive 27 percent uptick in average viewers, rising to 1.36 million—a figure not seen since 2008, when Champ Car merged with the Indy Racing League.

  • 2025 Average Viewers: 1.36 million
  • Viewership Increase: 27% from 2024
  • Notable Growth: 81% among ages 18-34
  • Growth in 18-49 demographic: 51%
  • Women viewers aged 18-34 increased by 72%

The substantial rise in viewer numbers signifies strong engagement, particularly among younger audiences and women, a key demographic for sports marketing.

Continuous Innovation and Collaboration

Pam Miller, an IndyCar Producer at FOX Sports, emphasized the ongoing nature of this creative effort. Even after the 2025 season concluded with the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix on August 31, the preparation for the next season remained a priority.

“It never stops,” Miller stated, highlighting the team’s commitment to innovation in their productions. They have incorporated valuable lessons learnt over the previous season into their planning for 2026, aiming for enhanced viewer experience.

FOX’s Strategic Stake in IndyCar

In a strategic move, FOX became a part-owner of IndyCar in 2025 by acquiring a one-third stake. This partnership enhances cooperation regarding race scheduling and other logistical elements, optimizing the overall fan experience.

“We have to find the best time slots to maximize viewership,” said Miller, affirming the importance of collaboration in this venture. The unity between FOX and IndyCar is expected to foster greater outreach to fans and spur increased interest in the races.

Creative Initiatives and Future Endeavors

Feature Producer Katie Weigel, along with her team, has been instrumental in crafting engaging features that will grace the upcoming 2026 season. Weigel expressed gratitude for the unique access and experiences gained during the previous season and looks forward to building on that momentum.

This creative initiative from FOX Sports promotes year-round excitement for IndyCar, aiming not only to showcase the sport but also to establish a lasting connection with its audience.
