2026 Begins with Price Hike for Major Streaming Service

A significant change has occurred in the streaming landscape as Paramount+ implements a price increase for its subscription services. This adjustment comes after the announcement made in November, marking the platform’s first rate hike since 2024.

Price Changes for Paramount+ Subscription Plans

The new pricing structure took effect on January 15, 2026. Subscribers will notice the following adjustments:

  • Paramount+ Essential (Ad-Supported Tier):
    • Monthly Subscription: $8.99 (previously $7.99)
    • Annual Subscription: $89.99 (previously $59.99)
  • Paramount+ Premium (Ad-Free Tier):
    • Monthly Subscription: $13.99 (previously $12.99)
    • Annual Subscription: $139.99 (previously $119.99)

These changes will be reflected in the billing cycle beginning February 2026. Paramount+ stated that the increased prices aim to enhance user experience and strengthen programming offerings for viewers in the coming year.

Upcoming Streaming Events and Competitions

This announcement arrives just before an important event for Paramount+. The service is set to stream its first UFC fight on January 24, which marks a significant addition to their content lineup.

Trends in Streaming Subscription Prices

Price hikes have become a common trend within the streaming industry. Other major platforms, including Disney+ and HBO Max, have also recently adjusted their pricing structures. Additionally, Paramount+ has decided to end free trials for new users at the start of the new year, which may impact subscriber growth.

As competitors continue to evolve, subscribers can expect ongoing adjustments in pricing and services across the streaming sector.
