Musk’s X Restores Service After Global Outage Affects Thousands

On Tuesday, a significant global outage affected Elon Musk’s social media platform, X. Thousands of users across the world reported difficulties accessing the service, as confirmed by Downdetector.com.
X Outage Details
The outage began at approximately 9 a.m. ET. During its peak, more than 28,300 complaints were logged in the United States. However, the number of reported issues decreased significantly later in the day.
Regional Impact
- United States: Reports peaked at over 28,300 and later fell to about 700.
- United Kingdom: Reports dropped from more than 8,000 to roughly 130.
- Canada: Issues declined from a high of over 3,200.
Downdetector compiles outage reports from various sources, indicating that the actual number of users impacted might be higher than the reports suggest. Despite the widespread issues, X’s parent company had not issued a comment regarding the cause of the outage.
Previous Outages
This is not the first time X has experienced significant disruptions. In November 2025, a misconfigured security setting at Cloudflare temporarily halted access to the platform. Additionally, a separate incident later that month also disrupted service for thousands of users in the U.S.
As global connectivity increasingly relies on social media platforms like X, these outages illustrate the challenges faced by technology companies in maintaining reliable service.
