Farmer’s Life Transformed by Challenging Disability on ‘L’amour est dans le pré’

M6 is set to premiere the 21st season of the popular show “L’amour est dans le pré” on January 19, 2026. This season is notable for featuring two brothers, Etienne and Fabien, making it a historic moment in the show’s history.

Meet Etienne and Fabien

Both brothers hail from Normandy and are dairy farmers. They took over the family farm, yet their paths to this point differ significantly. Etienne, now 42, did not initially aspire to be a farmer. Instead, he dreamed of becoming an electrician.

Career Change Due to Disability

During an interview with host Karine Le Marchand, Etienne revealed his struggle with a visual impairment known as color blindness. “I am colorblind, which can be a hindrance,” he stated. This condition has made it challenging for him to pursue a career in electrical work, leading him to join the family farm in 2015.

Fabien’s Clear Path

In contrast, Fabien, 27, has always been committed to agriculture. “From a young age, it was clear to me that I belonged on the farm,” he said. Both brothers now run their dairy operation, producing approximately 750,000 liters of milk annually from 145 hectares, housing over 100 cows.

Seeking Love

Aside from farming, both Etienne and Fabien are on the lookout for romantic relationships. Fabien took the initiative to enroll them in the show, motivated by a desire to avoid loneliness in the future. He expressed, “Etienne has always dreamed of having a family, and I don’t want to end up alone like him.”
