Milwaukee Faces Cold and Snow in This Week’s Weather Forecast

Milwaukee is set to experience a significant shift in its weather this week as cold temperatures and snow are forecasted to return. Following a period of mild January conditions, residents should prepare for winter-like weather.
Milwaukee Weather Forecast: Cold and Snow Ahead
According to Marcia Cronce, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, the high temperature for Tuesday, January 13, is expected to reach the upper 40s. This exceeds the normal January high of 31 degrees. However, a cold front is anticipated early on January 14, bringing a shift back to typical winter temperatures.
Cold Front Arrives
The arctic air will begin to settle in around 3 a.m. on January 14. Milwaukee will see daytime highs drop into the 20s, accompanied by blustery northwest winds. These conditions will likely create wind chill factors that feel like single digits, making it potentially the coldest day of the week.
Light Snow Expected
- Thursday, January 15: A slight warming trend is anticipated.
- Evening Snow: Light snow is expected to begin on Thursday night.
- Accumulation: Snow will continue intermittently through Saturday, January 17.
Cronce emphasized that while the snowfall will be measurable, it is not expected to reach winter-storm levels. The snow accumulation will build gradually. Following this week, temperatures will plunge further during the weekend, with lows potentially dipping into the teens and single digits.
Mild Conditions Preceded the Cold
These developments come after a remarkably mild start to January 2026. Notably, Milwaukee experienced a record high temperature of 59 degrees on January 9. Residents are reminded to enjoy the milder temperatures while they last, as winter weather returns.
