Seahawks Prepare for 49ers as Coordinators Pursue Head Coach Roles

As the Seattle Seahawks gear up for their upcoming playoff clash with the San Francisco 49ers, important developments concerning their coaching staff have emerged. Both offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and defensive coordinator Aden Durde have recently interviewed for head coach positions with several NFL franchises.
Coordinators Pursue Head Coach Roles
- Klint Kubiak met with the Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, and Miami Dolphins.
- Aden Durde interviewed with the Falcons and Cleveland Browns.
Despite the ongoing interviews, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald remains unconcerned about the impact on his team’s preparation. The interviews were conducted during the Seahawks’ bye week, allowing both coordinators to maintain their focus on the team’s upcoming game.
“It worked out well that they had the two days off and they could kind of shift their focus,” Macdonald stated. “Once it’s over, then that’s over and we’re able to move forward.”
Focusing on the 49ers
During the bye week, the Seahawks concentrated on self-scouting and evaluating potential playoff matchups. Now, their attention shifts fully to the 49ers, who are fresh off a significant victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, ending their hopes for a Super Bowl repeat with a score of 23-19.
“I think just watching it live, it was just an incredibly resilient win,” Macdonald remarked about the 49ers. “They’re really tough and possess a lot of character.”
Injury Updates
The Seahawks are also looking to bolster their lineup with potential returns from injury. Tight end Elijah Arroyo and safety Coby Bryant are expected to practice this week.
- Arroyo missed the last four games of the regular season due to a knee injury but is optimistic about returning.
- Bryant has been sidelined for the last two games also due to a knee issue.
Additionally, left tackle Charles Cross, who recently signed a four-year contract extension, is anticipated to rejoin the starting lineup after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out of the last three games.
As they prepare for this crucial playoff matchup, the Seahawks are determined to leverage their home-field advantage in front of a supportive crowd, marking their first playoff appearance in five years.
