A tree fell in the Asheley Park area, resulting in around 1,500 additional power outages. Crews are actively working to restore service. Road closures have also been reported, including Union Hill Road, which was closed temporarily due to flooding.

Preparation Tips for Residents

In light of the predicted severe weather, residents should take proactive steps to minimize disruption and damage:

  • Clear Drainage: Clean gutters and direct downspouts away from your home.
  • Secure the Yard: Bring in or secure outdoor furniture to prevent it from washing away.
  • Check Equipment: Ensure your sump pump works and your NOAA weather radio is operational.
  • Power Up: Charge cell phones and portable chargers ahead of potential power outages.

Severe Weather Outlook

The primary threat remains damaging winds and heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash flooding across North Georgia. A Level 1 “marginal risk” for severe storms has been issued, with the possibility of brief tornado activity. Forecasters emphasize the importance of remaining attentive to updates as conditions may change rapidly.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through reliable local weather resources and to prepare for varying weather conditions throughout Saturday.
