SIX & SIX Private Islands to Launch at Rah Gili, Maldives

Next month, Rah Gili Maldives will officially debut as the first resort under the SIX & SIX Private Islands brand. This new venture is part of a master plan that includes six private islands across the Maldives, reflecting a commitment to bespoke island hospitality.
SIX & SIX Private Islands: A New Vision
Founded in 2024 by hotelier Laith Pharaon, SIX & SIX aims to blend modern design with authentic cultural experiences. Positioned on South Malé Atoll, Rah Gili Maldives sits adjacent to a marine sanctuary, enhancing its appeal as a sustainable destination.
Resort Features and Design
The resort will offer a total of 74 villas, including 37 luxurious overwater accommodations. Each villa is designed to reflect the Maldivian fishing heritage, influenced by local traditions. The overarching design philosophy, known as Rayyithun, which translates to “People of the Islands,” is evident throughout the resort.
- Architecture: Designed by Bali-based SHL Asia.
- Inspirational Elements: Incorporation of traditional fishing village aesthetics.
- Color Palette: Features lagoon blues, ocean tones, and earthy hues.
Guest accommodations are categorized into Beach Villas and Overwater Villas, each with distinctive narratives that enhance the guest experience. The Beach Villas boast warm interiors infused with tactile fabrics and Maldivian artwork, while the Overwater Villas showcase cooler palettes reflecting the marine environment.
Culinary Offerings
Dining at Rah Gili Maldives will feature seven culinary venues, each offering international dishes with a local twist. These venues will emphasize Maldivian architectural elements while presenting diverse cuisines aligned with the region’s culinary heritage.
Sustainability Commitment
Sustainability is a core value at Rah Gili Maldives. The resort incorporates locally sourced materials, such as:
- Coconut palm leaf (kajan)
- Bamboo
- Coconut fiber
- Timber
The construction and operations of the resort focus on eco-friendly practices. Innovations like a hybrid solar-battery system, reverse-osmosis water plants, and efficient LED lighting are designed to minimize environmental impact. The resort is actively pursuing EarthCheck Certification to further emphasize its commitment to sustainability.
As Rah Gili Maldives prepares to welcome guests, it stands as a testament to the fusion of cultural richness and contemporary design. This new destination promises to provide an unforgettable experience for travelers looking for luxury intertwined with heritage in the heart of the Maldives.
