Local councils emphasized the responsibility of individual schools in making closure decisions during inclement weather. In Dudley, eight schools were already closed on Monday, with some expected to remain shut on Tuesday.
Dudley Council advised that most schools would contact parents directly regarding closures. For updates, they suggested checking school websites and social media channels.
Weather Forecast
The weather forecast indicates a continued cold snap with low temperatures. The Met Office predicts severe frost overnight, with a possible minimum temperature dropping to -8°C.
On Tuesday, residents can expect another freezing start, with daytime temperatures rising only slightly, peaking at around 4°C. The outlook for Wednesday to Friday suggests a mix of dry periods and potential heavy rain, which could disrupt travel.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to stay alert for communications from schools, as conditions may change rapidly. Ensuring safety during winter weather remains the top priority for all educational institutions in the area.
