Liam Rosenior Emerges as Top Contender for Chelsea Manager Role

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has emerged as the primary candidate for the Chelsea managerial position following Enzo Maresca’s departure. Maresca, who was at the helm of Chelsea, resigned amid reported conflicts with the club’s ownership and hierarchy.

Liam Rosenior’s Strong Candidacy

Rosenior, aged 41, previously managed Hull and has gained substantial support within Chelsea. The club’s ownership group, BlueCo, which acquired Chelsea in 2022, currently oversees Rosenior’s team in Strasbourg. As the search for a new head coach progresses, Rosenior stands out, though multiple candidates are still in the running.

Other Candidates Considered

Alongside Rosenior, Porto’s Francesco Farioli has been mentioned as a possible contender. Chelsea’s managerial search doesn’t seem to be limited to current names but recalls a history of interviews with various managers:

  • Roberto de Zerbi (Marseille)
  • Kieran McKenna (Ipswich)
  • Thomas Frank (formerly Brentford, now Tottenham)
  • Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth)
  • Marco Silva (Fulham)

While some names like Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner might be unlikely due to differing playing styles, the club continues to evaluate their options.

Immediate Coaching Plans

In the interim, Calum McFarlane, head coach of Chelsea Under-21s, will manage the team during the upcoming match against Manchester City. He is also scheduled to conduct a press conference on Friday to preview the game.

Recent updates on social media from goalkeeper Robert Sanchez indicate that Maresca’s coaching staff has also left the club. With these changes, the focus remains on appointing a fitting successor to lead Chelsea into a new era.
