Initially committed to James Madison University, Mendoza made a significant decision in December 2023 by following head coach Curt Cignetti to Indiana University (IU). This transition marks a new chapter in his athletic career, aiming to make a name for himself at a major program.

Alberto’s Performance in College Football
In the 2025 season, Alberto Mendoza showed promise during his appearances. He completed 18 out of 24 passes for a total of 286 yards, which included five touchdowns and just one interception. Additionally, he contributed on the ground with 184 rushing yards and one touchdown.
His involvement in games during 2024 was limited. During that year, he completed one pass for six yards.
