Bexar County Sheriff: Body Discovered in Search for Missing Camila Mendoza Olmos

Bexar County received troubling news during the ongoing search for 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos. A body was discovered on Tuesday, although authorities have not confirmed if it belongs to her. Sheriff Javier Salazar reported that the individual was last seen on December 24, near her home in the 11000 block of Caspian Spring.

Discovery of the Body

The body was located shortly after 4:45 p.m. by a joint team from the FBI and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. This team revisited a previously examined area, finding the remains in tall grass at the Burning Brush landscaping company, just a few hundred yards from Mendoza Olmos’ residence.

Details Surrounding the Investigation

While searching, investigators also found a firearm near the body. Sheriff Salazar confirmed that they were looking into a family member’s missing firearm, but it remains uncertain if the weapon recovered is linked to that case. Although no foul play is suspected, authorities are considering the possibility of self-harm.

Clothing Identification

The clothing found with the body aligns with descriptions of what Mendoza Olmos wore when she disappeared. Sheriff Salazar emphasized the importance of mental health awareness, urging anyone struggling to seek help. “Sometimes when everything seems okay, individuals may be silently dealing with their pain,” he stated.

Next Steps

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death. As this is a developing story, updates will continue to emerge.
