Background and Early Life of Dennis “Denny” Lindquist
Denny Lindquist was born on April 30, 1943, to Rudolph and Alvina Lindquist in New London, Minnesota. He was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. Denny’s early education started at District 9 Elementary School, and he graduated from New London–Spicer High School in 1961.
Education and Military Service
After high school, Denny pursued his education at Willmar Technical College, completing his studies in 1963 with high honors. His dedication to service led him to enlist in the National Guard in 1964. During his time in the military, he served in the motor pool division until his honorable discharge in 1970.
Personal Life and Career
Denny married Marlys Gravley on July 23, 1966, at the Raymond United Methodist Church. The couple initially lived in Spicer and Litchfield before settling back in New London.
- Denny worked as a mechanic and later established Denny’s Wheel and Brake Service.
- He operated his business in New London until his retirement in 1992.
- After retiring, he found a new passion for driving, working as a school bus driver and motor coach operator.
Community Involvement and Interests
Denny was deeply involved in his community. He served on the Youth for Christ Board and the Lake Beauty Bible Camp Board, among other organizations. His interests included camping, hunting, and flying his airplane, showcasing his adventurous spirit.
Family and Legacy
Denny is survived by his loving wife, Marlys, his children Bethany Lindquist and Chris Lindquist, and his grandchildren: Trevor, Trenton, Briana Checketts, Makenzie Erickson, Rayah, and Gavin Lindquist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Alvina Lindquist.
