Theresa Ann Reuter, a cherished member of the Le Mars community, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 90. She spent her final days at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars, Iowa.
Life and Legacy
Born on October 15, 1935, in Remsen, Iowa, Theresa was the daughter of Aloysius and Josephine Vaske. She grew up in a loving family and attended St. Mary’s Schools, graduating in 1953. Theresa furthered her education at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, where she earned a teaching degree.
Her career began at Gehlen Catholic School in Le Mars, where she inspired many students. On November 30, 1957, she married Robert Reuter at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. The couple settled in Le Mars before moving to a farm near Oyens, where they began farming in 1961. They returned to Le Mars in 1998 after retiring. Robert Reuter passed away on November 1, 2010.
Community Involvement
Theresa was an active member of All Saints Catholic Parish-St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed several pastimes, including playing cards, listening to KLEM radio, solving sudoku puzzles, and walking. October marked a significant milestone in her life as she celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by family.

Theresa is survived by her six children and their families:

- Vicky (Bob) Heidesch of Remsen, IA
- Cindy (Dale) Hansen of Alton, IA
- Jerry (Kate) Reuter of Le Mars, IA
- Karen (Chris) Fullinfaw of Omaha, NE
- Keith (Tabitha) Reuter of Omaha, NE
Additionally, she leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, along with her siblings, including:
- Marian Holzman of Alton, IA
- Alvira Schwarz of Marcus, IA
- Sr. Rosemary Vaske of Dubuque, IA
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and her son Timothy. She also mourned the loss of grandsons Caleb Fullinfaw, Adam Fullinfaw, and Keaton Reuter.
Funeral Arrangements
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Parish-St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Rev. Doug Klein will officiate, with Rev. Bruce Lawler concelebrating. Burial will occur at St. Catherine Cemetery in Oyens, IA.
Visitation will take place at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen on Monday, December 22, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A vigil prayer service is set for 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a cause that will be determined later. For those unable to attend, the funeral will be live-streamed via the church’s website.
