On December 19, 2025, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) initiated Operation Hawkeye Strike, targeting ISIS in Syria. This strategic operation follows a recent attack on U.S. and allied forces.
Operation Overview
Launched at 4 PM ET, the operation involved coordinated airstrikes and ground support. CENTCOM forces attacked over 70 targets across central Syria using various military assets including:
- Fighter jets
- Attack helicopters
- Artillery
The operation received significant support from the Jordanian Armed Forces, which deployed fighter aircraft.
Mission Objectives
Operation Hawkeye Strike aimed to disrupt ISIS’s operational capabilities. The military efforts focused on destroying known ISIS infrastructure and weapon sites. More than 100 precision munitions were utilized during these strikes.

Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, emphasized the importance of this operation. He stated, “This operation is critical to preventing ISIS from inspiring terrorist plots and attacks against the U.S. homeland.” He reaffirmed the commitment to pursue terrorists threatening American lives and regional stability.
Recent Context
This operation comes in response to a December 13 attack on U.S. and Syrian personnel. Following that incident, U.S. and allied forces conducted 10 operations in Syria and Iraq. These efforts resulted in the deaths or capture of 23 terrorist operatives.
Ongoing Efforts
In the past six months, U.S. and partner forces in Syria have undertaken over 80 operations. The focus remains on eliminating terrorist threats that endanger the United States and its allies in the region.
