Wildcats Announce 2026 Men’s Lacrosse Team Captains

Villanova University’s men’s lacrosse program has announced its captains for the 2026 season. Head coach Mike Corrado revealed the leadership group, which includes three returning captains and one new addition.

2026 Men’s Lacrosse Team Captains

  • David Evanchick
  • Nick Lucchesi
  • Luke Raymond
  • Jack Shoemaker

Raymond, a fifth-year player, is one of the returning leaders. As a versatile offensive player, he has nearly 60 points over 45 games. Last season, he achieved a career-high of 23 points in 15 games, along with an All-Tournament selection at the BIG EAST Championship.

Evanchick will again serve as a captain, primarily as a defensive force. He began his career with 15 starts in his freshman year. Despite an injury that sidelined him for most of last season, he contributed significantly with 33 ground balls and nine caused turnovers as a sophomore.

Shoemaker, also a repeat captain, was recognized as a First Team All-BIG EAST selection in 2025. He recorded 17 turnovers and has been a key player since joining the program, appearing in all 46 games thus far. Shoemaker hopes to strengthen the defensive lineup further in 2026, building on his career-high of 41 ground balls as a sophomore.

Lucchesi, the team’s only junior captain, is the new addition to the leadership group. He has scored 32 goals during his two-year career and will play a vital role alongside Raymond in the offense. As the team adjusts after the departure of leading scorer Matt Licata, Lucchesi aims to lead the Wildcats in their offensive efforts.

Looking Ahead to the Season

The Wildcats are set to kick off their season on February 7, when they face Penn State. The focused leadership of Raymond, Evanchick, Shoemaker, and Lucchesi positions the team to challenge for a return to the BIG EAST title game.
